It’s been a while since my last blog post, and that’s really because it’s just been a whole bunch of nothing going on.
After the initial paperwork push of the home study agency, the adoption agency and the profile agency, we are just about done with 2 of the 3 major tasks: The profile information for our profile book that will be shown to birth families is in progress, and we should have our first draft on 4/20 to review. And we completed our individual interviews with the home study agency, and the report is being written up for review as I type! We have to get our medical reports completed over the next week and then we will be done with the home study documentation. We may just meet our goal of being “Home Study Ready” by the end of April! How exciting is that?!?!
Now, the adoption agency paperwork is still sort of a “black box”. Because our case manager gave us the paperwork list that included a lot of documentation that should be covered in the home study (our profile was listed as if we were doing the home study with them), we actually won’t have much left. After we submit the home study, we’ll have a better idea of what we still need to do. But knowing me, I will get that done in record time and we will be ready to be matched with a birth family!
So after that’s done, then what?? I suppose I will devote more time to reading and studying, my hair growth potions and formulas, and staring at small children when I walk through the store…anything to help me get through the wait to be matched. I’ll revive my secret Pinterest board with all things Baby, researching the best diapers, best Pack & Play, best formula, best pacifier, best stroller and about 100 other “best” things that I’ll “need” when the baby gets here.
But what I REALLY need to be doing is praying every day for our birth mother and for safe arrival of our baby. I need to pray for patience in this process, discernment about the right situation for us, strength if a match falls through, and perseverance to keep going even if everything seems to be coming apart at the seams. We really need the prayer of others too, of our Village, to stay hopeful and focused on the beautiful, little light at the end of the tunnel. We’ll be on the Baby Train sooner than we think!
